EMMA'S FIRST CHRISTMAS

Christmas finally arrived. After the power outage, shopping, decorating, baking then wrapping, I pulled it off. We had a nice Christmas.
Emma had no idea of what was going on. She looked at all the presents under the tree and wasn't sure what to do. We showed her how to open up her gifts and of course she would rather play with the boxes. It took her three days to finally open all of them. We didn't even buy her that much. She would open one and would want to play with it and didn't care about opening another one. She was so sweet. We really enjoyed having her with us this year. She helps soften a very hard Holiday for us. She just makes me smile and laugh all day. She is such a joy. It was nice to see her sitting there under the tree with Katie and trying to help Katie open her presents. It was a good feeling to have two children here for Christmas. There is still two empty spots under the tree and nothing will ever fill them but, like I said, Emma helps soften that pain and of course having Katie here with us means the world.
After all the presents were opened we had our traditional brunch then it was time to start making Christmas dinner.
We put Emma down for a nap and continued getting ready for dinner. She woke up just in time to serve dinner. Perfect timing. Family showed up and we had a really nice time with everyone.
For those of you that read about Emma's fear of Santa, by now that has changed. Over Thanksgiving my brother came in with a funny looking Santa mask and Emma was scared to death. Well, over the next few weeks we tried to get her to like him. My friend Laura even bought her a big stuffed Santa and she wouldn't go near him. Eventually she did and even started saying Ho Ho Ho!. Now every time she sees a Santa that is what she says. It is the cutest thing. My brother bought her a Ho HO HO! sign for Christmas and the first thing she said was Ho HO HO! I couldn't believe it. There is a picture of her with that sign.
There is so much more that I can write but, I won't go on. Enjoy the pictures. Now I have to catch up on New Years. MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Good Evening from Atlanta, GA

I have read all your blogs and enjoy hearing about Emma so much. I hope you continue to let us share in her life with you. She is a doll! I am so thankful she now has you and is not still in the orphanage or foster care. She has a happy look on her face and contentment in her eyes now as compared to a little hollow and sad look in them before.

Thank you for sharing.
